7-8-12/Lyrics

So here I am at 3AM – uncomfortable and unable to sleep.

The downside to sleeping as much as possible to try to escape the pain/depression/anxiety, is that it can catch up to you. Fast forward to tonight. Can’t sleep. Restless, tossing, turning, and doing something I love, listening to music.

I haven’t discussed this before, but music is a huge outlet for me. I can’t play an instrument or sing worth anything, but I can listen and enjoy music. I also have knack for memorizing lyrics – to the amazement of most who know me. I can go into wild lyrically based conversation with the best of them.

There are other things I love and use as escapes – writing obviously, spending time with friends, and driving. However, music is a constant – always available to me – resource. I am never far from my iPod or iTunes, especially when I am emotional.

I have decided to post a lyrics page on the blog. It is important to note that I often take pieces of songs that I find meaningful, or the gist of a song. In other words, music/lyrics are poetry as far as I am concerned and therefore open to interpretation.

The first song I will post is “Run” by Collective Soul

This song makes me think about how far I feel I have yet to go to get through this. It also makes me think about how I have lived my life and what is important in life.

Run: Collective Soul

Are these times contagious
I’ve never been this bored before
Is this the prize I’ve waited for?
Now as the hours passing
There’s nothing left here to insure
I long to find the messenger

Have I got a long way to run
Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run

Is there a cure among us?
From this processed sanity?
I weaken with each voice that sings
In this world of purchase
I’m gonna buy back memories
To awaken some old qualities

Have I got a long way to run
Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run
yeah, I run

Have I got a long way?
Have I got a long way?
Have I got a long way to run?
Have I got a long way to run?

Yeah I run
(Have I got a long way to run?)
Yeah I run
(Have I got a long way to run?)

Yeah I run
(Have I got a long way to run?)
Yeah I run
(Have I got a long way to run?)
